JACK JURATOVIC (1939-2018) ORIGINAL GOUACHE PAINTING

1: JACK JURATOVIC (1939-2018) ORIGINAL GOUACHE PAINTING

The large original work in gouache on artist's illustration board is signed by Jack Juratovic lower left with the designation of AFAS denoting the artist's membership in the Automotive Fine Arts Society, a fine arts society dedicated to the art of the automobile. But Juratovic was more than a member, he himself founded the society in 1986.

After graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1965, Juratovic took a job as a designer with Ford and later worked in the same capacity with Chrysler. He was a through and through, doing everything from working on cars to designing, to manufacturing to racing and he painted a number of compositions like this that include an iconic automobile competing with an iconic locomotive - in this case a Rolls Royce versus the Gresley A-4 Mallard 4-6-2 steam locomotive from 1938, holder of the world speed record for steam locomotives at 126 mph.
Measures 32 x 48 inches.
Apparently the condition is very good, very clean, intact, no visible stain, damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
