176: CAPT CHOVANES USMC UNIFORM GROUPING

Captain Edward Chovanes, USMC, K Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, Pacific Campaign. Edward Chovanes enlisted into the V-12 Aviation Training Program in March 1942. He wasn't commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant until April 1944. He left for overseas duty on 14 August 1944, seeing action on Guam while commanding the 1st Platoon, I Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He assumed command of the 1st Platoon, K Company by April 1945. His unit was in reserve for Iwo Jima. He as discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in April 1946 and he achieved rank of Captain in the Marine Corps Reserve. American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, WWII Victory Medal.
