102: AIR FORCE, MARINES AND NAVAL RESERVE NAMED GROUPINGS

1) Lt. Col. Clarence 'CB' B. Cox, Ordnance Officer, 5th Air Force Service Command, Pacific Theatre. CB Cox was graduated from VPI in 1938, and was commissioned 2nd Lt. on 6 June. He was brought on active duty as a 1st Lt. on 28 July 1941. He was on the fast track for both promotions and higher level schooling. His duties took him to Saipan and Okinawa where he earned two battle stars. He performed duties in Japan when the war ended. He was discharged on 11 July 1946, but remained in the Reserves.

2) Lieutenant William Singleton Perry, USNR, European Theatre. Shadow box contains: Navy Good Conduct Medal with 1937 and 1942 bars; Seven place ribbons; American Defense Medal with bronze star; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one silver and four bronze stars; Navy Expert Rifle Medal; WWII Victory Medal; Ensign rank insignia; Lieutenant Junior Grade rank insignia; Lieutenant rank insignia; and Gold badge with star/anchor/six stars. Lt. William Singleton Perry enlisted on 16 November 1933 with serial number 265-33-54. On 12 May 1938, he was assigned to the USS Enterprise with a rating of BM1c. On 4 May 1942, he was promoted to Boatswain. As of 1 May 1943, he was appointed Lt. J.G. and was again promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 July 1944. He earned the GCM with two bronze stars, American Defense Medal with one bronze star, A-P Campaign with one silver and four bronze stars, Navy Expert Pistol and Rifle Medals, and others.

3) Pfc. Edward Leo Dale, USMCR, 5th Marine Division, Pacific Theatre. Shadow box contains: Combat Action Medal, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, WWII Victory Medal, Japan Occupation Medal, and Rifle Expert Badge.
