2nd Lt. Robert I. Donnellan, NGUS, HQ Co., 1st Battalion, 341st Infantry, 86th Division, Pacific Theatre. Good Conduct Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal; WWII Victory Medal; Philippine Independence Ribbon; CIB; Marksman Badge, Rifle. Robert Donnellan entered active duty as a Private, seeing action in the Philippines. At the age of 18, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt on 27 Nov 1945 with assignment to the 86th Infantry Div. He served with the 341st Inf. from 13 Feb to 24 Jun 1946. At war's end he remained on active duty, being promoted to 1st Lt. on 6 Aug 1947. Following assignment to the West Point Preparatory School, he entered West Point on 5 Aug 1947, but was released. on 2 Aug due to a medical disability (hearing loss due to combat). He attended the Infantry Career Course at Fort Benning, GA, from 14 Jun to Oct 1949. He reentered active duty on 9 Aug 19. On 24 Aug he was assigned to the 163 Military Police Battalion, and was further assigned as Commanding Officer, Company D, 163rd MP Battalion, DCNG. He was discharged from NGUS as 1st Lt. on 15 Dec 1952.
