Corporal Oscar 'Ozzie' Eggeson, Jr., 1st Parachute Battalion, USMCR, Pacific Theatre. The personal and military effects of member of this short-lived specialized combat unit of the United States Marine Corps, includes: Framed portrait photo; KaBar knife with name on reverse of the scabbard; Compass; Marine Handbook with name stamp; Leather money belt with date and location of his entire military history; Framed Parachute. Riker mount contains: Portrait photo; Pair of Corporal stripes for green uniform; Marine Paratroop SSI, large; Marine Qualification Document, Paratroop SSI, small; Three gold collar insignia; Two dog tags; Four place ribbon bar; Paratroop badge; Rigger sleeve insignia; 5th Division SSI; Discharge insignia; and Rifle Expert badge.

Ozzie enlisted on 21 October 1942. He was assigned to the Marine Parachute School at Camp Gillespie, Calif. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 1st Parachute Battalion. The Paramarines were relegated to amphibious landings, thus were dissolved. Assigned to the 1st Marine Division in 1943, he took part in actions in the Pacific. He was discharged on 3 March 1946. He earned assorted medals for his actions and service.
