315: A FREDERICK SAVAGE OSTRICH CAROUSEL FIGURE C. 1900

The large joined and carved pine animal with hinged neck for ease of transport and less breakage going to English Fairs is a double-seater displayed on a nice old English style brass pole. The concept of horses and animals with two seats meant more riders on the carousel at the same time and more revenue.
Measurements are approximately 70 inches long x 16 inches wide, 65 inches tall on pole.
Good condition, noting a few scattered bits of original paint and remains of a leather or velvet saddle, separations of the wood overall, breaks to the glass eyes, one leg is a replacement.
