368: AN 1837 CHIP CARVED AND DECORATED PA SEWING CLAMP

The fine little maple sewing clamp with period fabric covering the original stuffing, double stepped riser with half-round chip carving embellished by punched hex symbols or pinwheels, etched designs include tree of life, flowering pots and six-petal hex symbols surrounded by more punch decoration overall. The back plate is dedicated with etched initials and a date of 1837 surrounded by even more punched pinwheels.

A later iron sewing bird is included as shown.
Measure 5.5 and 8 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage, wear or repair.
