45: A BRONZE THEODOLITE FOR BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD

The fine circa 1900 bronze instrument on four-screw leveling base with telescope on semi-circular rack graduated in both degrees and links with vernier readout over a compass having silvered dial engraved Keuffel & Esser along with coordinates and fleur-des-lis, two spirit levels, hand engraved lettering of B & O R.R. No. 21 on the outer edge of the horizontal ring. The matching tripod and original one-door case bear the maker name Buff.
Tripod measures 37.5 while folded, case is 13 x 15 x 9 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, light wear and the effects of age and use overall.
