374: A 19TH C. BLUE DECORATED JAR SIGNED HAMILTON & JONES

The slope shoulder stoneware storage crock with rounded rim grooved for wax seal and Albany-slip glazed interior is stenciled 'HAMILTON & JONES, GREENSBORO, PA.' along with a somewhat disheveled bird stencil decoration in cobalt slip under the salt glaze.
Measures 9.75 x 6.5 inches.
Good condition a chip and wear on the upper rim and a hairline crack extending down from the upper rim. There are no other chips, cracks, repairs or areas of heavy wear.
