The sunlit depiction of a bright blue mountain lake and snow-capped peaks is executed in an atypically light palette and signed H. Hertzog by the prolific centenarian artist known for his atmospheric canvases.
Canvas measures 21 x 17.25 with a framed size of 26.25 x 22.5 inches.
Very good original condition, untouched except for area of white paint 0.5 x 2 inches upper left quadrant that fluoresces under UV light. The varnish has yellowed. There are no other issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
Provenance: The property of a PhD ichthyologist, or the proper term for a woman who studies eels, this painting was purchased in San Francisco in the 1970s.
