The portrait of an early 20th century American rancher is signed lower left with designation for Cowboy Artists of America, an organization Johnson joined at the time of its inception and in whose first show he exhibited in 1966. This painting, and several others in this auction, are consigned by the estate of a man who served as attorney and administrator for the organization.
Board measures 18.5 x 14.5 with a framed size of 23.25 x 19.25 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
