16: GEORGE VAN MILLETT (1864-1953) OIL ON CANVAS

An oil on canvas interior inscribed 'Corner of the Room' and dated circa 1925 on the stretcher verso, signed lower left front in black pigment, canvas measures 14 x 11 and the frame is 16 x 13 inches. A card verso states 'On the wall is a portrait of a lady painted by Millett at an earlier date. This work was exhibited in 1928 at the Rustic Lodge of Wilse Robinson, to whom the artist was related through the marriage of his eldest child, Elizabeth.'
Very good condition, two quarter-inch points of inpainting lower center.
