A NATIVE AMERICAN BEADED SASH OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN

210: A NATIVE AMERICAN BEADED SASH OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN

The beaded sash or strap similar to that found on a bandolier bag is now fitted with an uncharacteristic native tanned fringe, the white edge beading is a characteristic of Northern Plains Cree bead work, though the diagonal stripes are not compatible with this attribution. Other aspects serve to counter attributions more than providing basis. The work looks to be 1920s.
Measures 52.5 x 2.75 inches.
Very good condition free from losses or actual repair.
