The large stoneware charger is decorated with repeated mountain goat images carved sgraffito style through the glaze in the manner of cave drawings and petroglyphs.Tom Powell apprenticed under Kansas city potter, teacher and entrepreneur Jim Vandergriff who, for a time, raised goats and owned a caprine supply business at the time of his passing.
Diameter is 22.25 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of wear.
Provenance: The Jim and Joan Vandergriff collection.
