A proper pair of carved verde marble recumbent lions of the Grand Tour period circa mid 19th century, after the pair sculpted by Antonio Canova in 1792 for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII in St. Peters, Rome. Each is mounted to a later iron plate, scattered breaks. Measure 9 x 17.5 x 6 inches each.
