188: A 20TH C. LOUIS XVI STYLE MARBLE TOP SATINWOOD COMMODE

A bronze mounted pink marble top commode with mahogany and satinwood marquetry. The breakfront rectangular marble top with chamfered corners, over conforming case with chamfered fluted stiles, the frieze fitted with metal swan mounts enclosing one long central drawer over two long drawers with central gilt banded reserve featuring marquetry inlay of a water jug spilling forth flowers and foliate, flanked by two gilt-banded panel parquetry reserves over shaped apron with conforming foliate metal mount raised on four slight cabriole legs terminating in brass sabots. Fitted with foliate brass knobs and escutcheon. Measures 37 x 44 x 18 inches each. This lot was originally offered without reserve in our July 8, 2016 auction. The buyer, a Manhattan auction house owner and television show furniture appraiser, never paid for his purchases. As a result, this property from the Joseph Candioto Trust is being offered again without reserve.
Very good clean condition overall without damage, losses or repair.
