A VERY FINE LATE VICTORIAN DIAMOND AND TOPAZ PENDANT

350: A VERY FINE LATE VICTORIAN DIAMOND AND TOPAZ PENDANT

The exceptional platinum pendant of ribbon motif frame surmounted by tied bow surmount suspending a yellow gold bezel set with twenty-two diamonds in yellow gold surrounding a large oval pink topaz measuring 16.5 x 12 millimeters. The undulating ribbon and bow are set with another one hundred and forty diamonds. A topaz gemstone of this quality in today's market would have a wholesale cost of $800 per carat. The size is estimated at 6 to 8 carats.
Large center stone measures 16.5 x 12 mm. Pendant measures 2.25 x 1.25 with a chain length of 16 inches. Total weight 18.8 grams.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair, losses cracks, chips or wear.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
