364: JUDAISM PRIEST'S BREASTPLATE WITH GEMSTONES C. 1900

Two ornate brass breastplates:

1. One with twelve semiprecious stones, each representing the twelve tribes of Israel, named for Jacob's sons and grandsons Asher, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, Zebulun, Judah and Benjamin as indicated by the engraved title associated with each 'stone' within a mount having fleur-de-lis at each corner.

2. A hoshen Jewish priest brass breastplate with twelve icons, each again to represent the twelve sons and grandsons of Jacob, the whole within a brass frame lettered 'Holiness to the Lord.'
Measures 8.5 x 8.75 and 8 x 7.75 inches.
Very good intact condition throughout, free from damage, repair or heavy wear.
