The exceptionally well cast example in rich, dark brown patina displays a higher level of detail and modeling than most examples.

Bartolomeo Colleoni was a soldier and 15th century captain-general of the Republic of Venice. This equestrian bronze group is modeled after the monumental Venetian equestrian monument of Condottiere Bartolomeo Colleoni by the Italian sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio (1435-88).
Measures 14.5 x 7.5 x 14 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or wear.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
