The original work of unusual subject matter is drafted in pencil with yellow pastel on paper and signed lower left center with the date of 1963.

Born in Holton, Kansas, Robert Sudlow studied painting with Albert Bloch and Raymond Eastwood at the University of Kansas between 1938 and 1942. Between 1942 and 1945 he served as a fighter pilot for the Navy in the Pacific theater. After the war he joined the studio faculty at the University of Kansas beginning in 1946 and held a teaching position there for 47 years until his retirement in 1987.
Sight size measures 23.25 x 17.75 with a framed size of 29.75 x 23.5 inches.
Apparently the condition is good, noting a mat burn at the extreme edges, the sheet appears intact without visible damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
