REUBEN KAROL (1922-2022) WOOD CONTOUR CUBIST SCULPTURE

57: REUBEN KAROL (1922-2022) WOOD CONTOUR CUBIST SCULPTURE

Reuben H. Karol (1922-2020)
Patience (Circa 1997.)
The contemplative nude figure in a unique deconstructed style of joined wood layers is the product of a retired civil engineer's fascination with figure study.

Reuben H. Karol began his career as an engineer. His curiosity in how we visually process three dimensional figures - and how we create them as well - evolved into an output of more than 1000 studies of the female figure. In the end, Karol found his work represented by numerous galleries and through public installations of monumental proportions.

This example is signed underside of the base and numbered 6 from an edition of only 25.
Measures 12 x 9 x 5 inches.
Very good condition, noting some cracks to the wood on the figure's upper leg.
Provenance: The Robert W. Steinbach Trust and Steinbach Family Collection, Kansas City, Missouri.
