The award winning study of a sunlit, gossamer and lavender white iris against green foliage and near-black shadows is signed lower left front. It was recipient of the Missouri Watercolor Society's Churchill Museum Award in 2011.

The Churchill Museum Award is a prestigious award given annually by the Missouri Watercolor Society (MOWS) to recognize excellence in the field of watercolor painting. Named for Winston Churchill, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, an avid painter and supporter of the arts, the award is just one of many recognizing the work of Kansas artist Marlin Rotach.
