The oil on Masonite is signed and dated lower right.

While Anthony Benton Gude never formally studied painting under Thomas Hart Benton, the summers he spent around his grandfather's studio on Martha's Vineyard undoubtedly contributed to his artistic development. Gude's formal training came from studies elsewhere in Massachusetts at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and later the Art Students League in New York City. His style, choices of subject matter and penchant for mural commissions are all examples of the apple not falling far from the tree.
Board measures 36 x 27 with a framed size of 42.5 x 33.5 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
