70: CARVED AND PAINTED FOLK ART WEATHER VANE OR WHIRLIGIG

The unique design of male and female silhouette figures carved from wood were created in tandem as shown, the smaller female figure within a frame and style suggestive of circa 1920s. The use is not known for certain. The arrangement is mounted to swivel on a modern display and appears to be incomplete. The characteristics suggest intent to be as an outdoor whimsey similar to a weather vane or whirligig, or perhaps to simply convey wind direction.
Measures 22 x 12 inches.
Good original condition with lost elements.
