35: AN UNUSUAL FANCY PIE SAFE WITH HEART AND STAR TINS

The unusually ornate example is topped by a graceful scroll cut upper gallery and raised on an equally exuberant scrolling skirt between the tall, intact and original feet. The case is constructed using peg construction with some scattered nails hand forged from iron. The locks are brass. There is a cock beaded trim around the drawer opening. The shelves, back and case bottom are a poplar type softwood, It does not appear this cabinet was ever painted. The finished edges bordering the painted areas show blue paint over the varnished surface.
Measures 59.5 x 40 x 15.5 inches.
Good condition, displaying characteristics of wear, environment and use commensurate with age, a split at the entire left side of the drawer face, chip to the upper right drawer face, plus the obvious rodent damage.
