354: A FINE, RARE 19C. CARVED ABALONE AND SEQUINED HAND FAN

The outstanding 19th century French hand fan is composed of elaborately carved abalone sticks in a wide range of pearlescent colors having incised engravings by hand washed in gold. The sticks are covered purple, white and green cloth embellished in gold thread and covered in thousands of iridescent sequins applied with hand stitching.
Measures 10.75 x 14.25 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear, beyond the tatter and loss of the pink gauze that originally covered the back side.
