James E. Allen (some sources have the middle name as Edward, some as Edmund) was born in Louisiana, Missouri. He worked as an illustrator, easel painter, writer, etcher and lithographer, having studied under Pennell. He participated in juried exhibitions around the US for nearly 30 years.
Image measures 11.75 x 9 with a framed size of 21.75 x 19 inches.
Very good condition, noting a very, very pale toning in the image field. The full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair; framed to archival standards in acid free mounts.
