Elizabeth Hunt Barrett was born in New York but as an artist is most associated with Virginia, specifically Sweet Briar College, a private women's liberal arts college near Amherst where she taught in the early 20th century, She lived nearby on a farm, perhaps the homestead pictured here, with her journalist husband turned farmer.
Board measures 13.5 x 14.75 with a framed size of 20.25 x 21.5 inches.
