The rare lithograph from an edition of only 75 prints, is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left.

This is is a larger version of a similar print first issued in 1963 in an edition of 45 prints. That said, this still marks only the second appearance on record of this rare image having appeared at auction in any size or edition, according to all four major art auction record databases and entries on the major online bidding platforms.

Charles Banks Wilson's comments about the image are, 'The drummers are singing a special song for the winner of the War Dance contest. Contests are held at nearly every powwow I attend, with prize money and trophies offered to induce the better dancers to be there. I find the dances are not so much a ceremony these days as they are an art form.'

Prints and paintings that document authentic Native American traditions, ceremonies and culture are important and desirable. Charles Banks Wilson personally bore witness to the events he portrayed in art. Add to this the rarity of this low edition print and it confirms that this image is both rare and desirable.
Image measures 10.5 x 15.5 with a framed size of 18.25 x 23.5 inches.
Apparently the condition is very good, noting some minor bits of foxing visible through the mat, otherwise very good, intact, no visible stain, damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
