184: AN 18TH CENTURY BULTO SCULPTURE OF THE CRUCIFIXION

The detailed sculpture involves a carved wood figure of Christ painted in white with dark hair and beard retaining a very old cloth wrap, the simple wood cross, possibly stained or darkened with age, is mounted to wood base carved in a cloud motif retaining the original brown paint. The figure of Christ is adorned with a remarkable cut and punched tin aura.
Measures 24 x 14.5 inches.
Good condition, noting the effects of age and exposure, scattered chips and loosening as shown. No other damage, replacement or repair.
