155: A 19TH CENTURY ZUNI PUEBLO POTTERY CANTEEN ZUNI

The bulbous canteen with lug handles rather than pottery loops is decorated with a central rosette framed by several encircling bands of design, all executed in dark lines on a buff ground.
Measures 5 x 7 x 7 inches.
Good condition, though with the effects of age and use in the way of small chips and considerable wear.
Provenance: Purchased from Arrowsmith's in 1996 as being from the collection of Santa Fe poet Witter Bynner (1881-1968).
