Born in Tennessee, Jo Saylors began sculpting as a child, using clay from local creek beds. She won her first art competition at the age of twelve. Over her career, she created numerous sculptures depicting children in various activities, as well as wildlife and historical figures. Her works have been exhibited across the United States and are part of collections in thirteen foreign countries. Notably, her sculptures have been displayed at the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C.
