At the End of the Day (Turn of the 20th century.)
The tranquil barnyard scene at the End of the Day rendered with warm, earthy tones and softened light is well-displayed in a nice frame and signed lower right front.
The panel bears labels from both Henry J. Mullen Ltd., Harrogate, and Lechertier Barbe, Ltd., London, both well-known firms in the British framing, gallery and artist's supply trade.
Johann Scherrewitz was a Dutch painter best known for his rural scenes featuring shepherds, livestock, and village life. Born in Amsterdam, he studied in Holland and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy in London.
Board measures 13 x 10, frame is 20H x 16.5W inches.
Very good condition. There are no issues of scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
