Our Good Earth (1942)
The lithograph published by Associated American Artists in an edition of 250 prints is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, and in the stone as well. Unframed.
This image was commissioned by the U.S. Departmnent of Agriculture in 1942 to rally wartime morale and recognize the role of American farmers in the national effort. It was published as a poster encouraging citizens to buy war bonds and became an iconic image.
Curry stated his goal was to depict the ''strength and greatness of the farmer and his family.''
Image measures 12.75 x 10.25, sheet is 19.25H x 12.5W inches.
Very, very good condition, very clean, the full untrimmed sheet with four deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. There is no sign this print has ever been framed, saving it from improper handling or exposure to improper materials.
