The rare early image is signed and dated lower right and titled lower left. Perhaps a working version, the size of this image varies from that listed in David hunt's catalog of Wilson's prints where Mr. Hunt states, ''Another subject reproduced in Cornet magazine in 1940, storyteller was inspired in part by the book. Indians are People Too, by Ruth Muskrat.''
Wilson recalled, ''As I looked back, the old man with the little girl carrying her doll, Indian fashion would have been enough for a picture; but I added other activities of the camp, such as men, pitching, horseshoes, and little boys chasing little girls.''
Unframed.
Image measures 7 x 8, sheet is 12.5H x 13.5W inches.
Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet with two deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair; matted in acid free mounts.
Provenance: A private Kansas collection, purchased directly from the artist.
