The lithograph from an edition of 250 prints published by Associated American Artists is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower left and titled verso by the original AAA publisher's label. This is a nice, dark impression. Fath catalog number 68.
Benton's comments in Fath read: Drawing was made on Marthas Vinyard in the middle twenties. Scythe cutting of hay was common there at the time - and is still resorted to for small patches.
Image measures 10 x 12.5, sheet is 12.5 x 15.75, and frame is 16.5 x 20 inches.
This print is clean, untrimmed, and free from damage but has been laid down to cardstock.
Provenance: Descended through a Lawrence, Kansas estate to the current owner.
