The early composition, a landscape with distant foothills and towering clouds, is titled and attributed by Art Institute of Chicago exhibition label verso. The work is quintessential Jesse Arms as she signed her things prior to her marriage in 1915 when she added the name Botke when she signed.

She graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1911.

The image skillfully displays a variety of techniques in gouache application and thereby a variety of textures and effects. The final product is a handsome example of Jesse Arms (Botke) painting.
Board measures 8 x 6 with a framed size of 9.75 x 8 inches.
Good condition, noting light soiling and the effects of age and storage back side. A very few minor scattered rubs and minor specking to the face of the work.
