The lithograph, after an original oil painting by Wilson which is also up for bid in this auction, was published in an edition of 200 prints and signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, titled lower left. Unframed.

The print title is Oklahoma Swing. The painting is titled Sugar in the Gourd. The title, usually played in lively dance tempo, refers to a fiddle tune that dates to the 19th century. It originated in Southern Appalachian and Ozark traditions.

The colloquialism Sugar in the Gourd suggested something sweet, lively, or unexpected with or inside of something plain and ordinary.
Image measures 9.5 x 13, sheet is 14 x 17 inches.
Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet with deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair.
Provenance: Living estate, Overland Park, Kansas.
