1. A Gift to be Given (1996). Signed on the mat below the painting and titled verso. Board measures 8 x 6, frame size 15 x 13 inches.

2. Sky Psalm, Autumn Field of Light (1996). Signed on the mat below the painting and titled verso. Board measures 6 x 9, frame size 12 x 15 inches.

David Melby was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1942. He earned a BFA from Wichita State University in 1967, followed by an MFA from the University of Nebraska in 1970. He pursued further studies at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel, Mexico. As a working artist, he is most associated with Leavenworth, Kansas where he taught art classes as a a volunteer at the Federal Penitentiary there.
