The composition picturing haystacks, as seen in Kansas before mechanized baling, is signed lower right, dated and titled verso.

This painting is recorded as #2251 in the Sandzén card catalogue 1952 section, where the title is listed as Hay Stacks. The inscription verso that reads ''West of Lindsborg'' was obviously added much later. Gallery, not for sale is also written back side of the board. This inscription matches a notation on the card in the Sandzen archives. Over time, even some of these 'keepers' were sold or given away.
