5: TWO 19TH C. CURRIER AND IVES WILLIAM TELL LITHOS

Two original Currier and Ives hand colored lithographs, titles "Replying to Gessler" and Death of Gessler". The pair are framed in matching mahogany veneer frames of the period with sight sizes through the frame of 9.25 x 13.25 inches and overall frame size of 12.25 x 16.25 inches each.
The print titled 'Replying to Gessler' is very good with bright colors and unusually clean paper free from damage, repair, or major stain , noting light toning along the top edge. The other is evenly toned overall to a slightly darkened condition with very minor scattered foxing in two spots, no major stain, no damage or repair.
