ILLUSTRATION ART FOR THE STREAMLINER 'EL CAPITAN'

2: ILLUSTRATION ART FOR THE STREAMLINER 'EL CAPITAN'

The original watercolor and gouache on artist's illustration board was originally titled, 'El Capitan...., nothing like it in railroading.'

This image of a cowboy and old timer admiring a stainless steel streamliner appeared in a 1947 campaign that included The Saturday Evening Post magazine where it read: 'You're right, Pop! El Capitan, fast as the Super Chief, is the only all-chair car streamliner between Chicago and California. Soon this fine coach fair (plus small extra fare) train will be equipped with brand new cars containing the latest features for greater comfort. You'll like especially the newly designed reclining seats with full length leg rest. El Capitan will leave Chicago and Los Angeles every day instead of every other day as present. Watch for announcement of new schedule.'

The original work of art is signed by the artist just below the baggage cart.
Board measures 10.5 x 10.25 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
