A set of four Empire-style fauteuils and side chairs comprised of two arm chairs and two side chairs, each having rectangular molded crest rail above a recessed paneled frieze centering a stylized florette roundel within berried laurel modeled mounts, flanked by block recessed panels with stiff leaf mounts, rectangular padded back and conforming trapezoidal seat atop a laurel-mounted rail, the front two legs on monopodial winged griffons terminating in paw sabots. Upholstered in cream damask.The armed chairs each measure 39 x 26.5 x 24 inches. Armless chairs each measure 38 x 22 x 21 inches. This lot was originally offered without reserve in our July 8, 2016 auction. The buyer, a Manhattan auction house owner and television show furniture appraiser, never paid for his purchases. As a result, this property from the Joseph Candioto Trust is being offered again without reserve.
Good condition noting some minor issues of edge wear and minor chipping to some applied decorations.
