2: SHIPLEY'S FAMOUS VIRGINIA SADDLE FOR SORE-BACKED HORSES

Pictured on page 31 of the C. P. Shipley Saddlery and Mercantile Company Catalog Number 38, the description reads, 'Virginia No. 269. Shipley's Famous Virginia Saddle. Hide covered tree. This saddle is known at the Kansas City Stock Yards as a back saver; it never makes a horse's back sore and is a sure cure for a sore-back horse.'

The leather saddle with engraved outline detail and small embellishments of scallops, tooled wreath, brass tacks and small rosettes is stamped and numbered on each side.
Measures 19 inches to the inside edge of the cantle.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
