The iconic sculptural oak back with teak inlay and shaped crest rail in the form of a suit hanger is raised on a long slender vertical column that serves as the single back leg. The hinged teak wood seat lifts upward pivoting on brass fittings to serve as pants hanger, revealing a storage compartment having its original leather trim, the triangular frame is branded with the maker's mark on its underside.

Johannes Hansen (1886-1961) was a Danish furniture maker best-known for his products designed by Hans Wegner, whom he met in 1940 and his company would collaborate with for the next three decades.
Measures 37.25 x 20 x 17.75 inches.
Very good condition, noting some evidence of use on the top surface of the seat. Upon close study, a total of twelve minor, short shallow indentations and short scratches can be found. Observed normally, few can be found. Otherwise very good condition free from damage, heavy wear, abuse or repair. noting one brass latch on the seat is loose and can be removed from its fitting, but is present as shown, no losses or replacement.
Provenance: A birthday gift around 1957 to John W. O'Shea, Professor of Art Kansas State University 1956 to 2001.
