Smith and Wesson .45 M1917 (serial #:117247)
Serial number places the year of production at 1918. The top of the barrel has the two line S&W address and patent dates, the left side is marked S&W DA 45, the underside of the barrel is marked UNITED STATES PROPERTY and the bottom of the butt ''U.S./ ARMY / MODEL / 1917 / No / 117 / 247.'' The left side of the frame has flaming bomb proof mark in front of the hammer. The serial number on the butt, barrel, and cylinder all match. The grips are the correct smooth walnut military versions, case-hardened trigger and hammer, no moon clips, lanyard ring base of the butt.
Measures overall 10.5 inches with 5.5 inch barrel.
Good condition, 70% or better finish, with some spots of bluing missing, some with oxidation, grips with very few dings and scratches.
