The highly visual example is comprised of sixty-three pyramidal stacks, some with as many as ten chip-carved layers, mounted to the sides, ends, top - and even the underside of the case. Plus there are four square Lego-like feet of chip-carved mahogany. The thousands of serrations make for a powerful visual effect overall. The dry, original, un-touched surface is very nicely patinated to a dark, warm tone with additional color contrast on the carved tips, which adds to the visual impact. These qualities are all magnified by the size and proportions overall.
