The solid walnut carving of a G.O.P. elephant on long trapezoidal platform is centered by a picture frame and lettered along the base in bas relief. A pop-up elephant figure backs the picture frame. Portions of the stipple carved areas along the base retain traces of gold paint.

A very similar object of the same form, technique, and materials, dated 1933, was identified as having been carved by an inmate in the Kansas State Penitentiary. See lot one in this catalog.
Measures 10.75 x 15 x 5 inches.
Good condition, noting the effects of storage, age and exposure, no damage or repair.
