A RACK OF SEVEN EXCELLENT IRON INDIAN KNOCKDOWN TARGETS

41: A RACK OF SEVEN EXCELLENT IRON INDIAN KNOCKDOWN TARGETS

The iron rack of knockdowns is comprised of seven Native American figures cast in uncommon detail and found in uncommonly nice paint - both from the perspective of condition and the number of colors used. Their state of preservation is uncommon as well. Each figure has a great seemingly original surface. The application of the paint and the number of colors, plus the patinated tones and the lack of quickly-applied paint in multiple coats with drips and splatters suggests that these are found in original paint rather than 'park paint.'

In their book Step Right Up!: Classic American Target and Arcade Forms, Richard and Valerie Tucker picture a similar example with attribution to Evans or Smith. The entry goes on to say, ''Similar more detailed examples made by Hoffman and Mueller.''
Measures 8.75 x 67 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear - nice patina throughout.
