A RARE FLOOR MODEL ALCOHOL POWERED BRASS BLADE FAN

81: A RARE FLOOR MODEL ALCOHOL POWERED BRASS BLADE FAN

The iron base supports a brass fluid burner and cast iron conductive column below the cast iron housing mounted with brass blades and cage. Fans like this model attributed to the J.H. Strong Lake Breeze Motor Company, a maker of Stirling type heat-driven motors and, in this case, cooling fans, before electricity became widely available. Given that this technology required heat from the burning of alcohol or kerosene to create a breeze, electric fans turning the blades without producing heat soon prevailed. As a result, fans like this very scarce.
Measures 41 tall and the cage is 17.75 inches in diameter.
Very good working condition, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
